How do I book a show at The Vibe Coffeehouse?
What are the preferred art forms & genres of music?
Literature, Music, Performing & Visual Arts.
We book mostly singers and musicians, but also spoken word, storytelling, poetry, dancing, drama and more. We also have exhibits of visual arts. Any type of Christian music -- cover, original, worship … even bands that mix in secular music as long as it is clean and family friendly. Preference to those that don’t try to blow people away with noise.
What is the show structure?
Weekend shows run from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Sound check and setup is from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. No exceptions. Each coffeehouse is a different experience. Usually, the featured artist has 2 sets of 30 minutes each. There is a 15 minute break in the middle.
Do you pay artists?
No, we cannot afford to pay. We offer a small honorarium only to our featured artists.
Can I sell my CDs?
Performers are welcome to set up a table to sell CDs, books, tee shirts or other appropriate merchandise. You can also put out promotional material for your upcoming shows.
Do you have a stage? Do I need to bring my own PA equipment? Do you have a sound person?
Depending on which location we use we may or may not have a stage. We have mics, speakers and cords. We also have a 16 channel PA system, stage monitors, and subs below our stage. Our vocal/instrument mics are Shure SM58s & SM57s. We do not provide drums or any other musical instrument. You are welcome to bring your own. However, be aware that some locations have stairs and we do not have anyone to help with bringing in your instruments.
Yes, we have a sound person.
What is the capacity of the coffeehouse?
How do I become a Local Spotlight Performer (aka Opening Act)?
A spotlight performer plays as an opener to the Featured Performer. You must play your own instrument or have an accompanist, and be fairly good at what you do. Spotlight performers do not get an honorarium. We also consider other types of performances such as short skits. Just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or fill out the booking form and put “Spotlight” as first word in the COMMENTS.
Are there Open Mic opportunities?
If you are a Singer Songwriter, Poet, Musician, Comedian, Storyteller, Author or other artist, here is your opportunity to shine for four (4) minutes. Every month we have one to three Open Mic slots. We have a sign up list from 6:00 p.m to 6:30 pm and assign numbers. Throughout the night we pull a number to see who gets to perform. The earlier you arrive the higher your chance of playing.
